East soccer picks up first win of season; Polk golf tops Hendersonville

East Henderson’s girls soccer team picked up its first win of the young season on Monday, as it shut out Brevard by a final score of 4-0.

The Eagles’ Aubrie Pressley, a senior, tallied all four goals.

East is now 1-2 and 1-0 in the Mountain Six Conference. Its two losses were against Polk County in the season opener and Owen last week. The Eagles traveled to Pisgah on Wednesday night in another Mountain Six Conference match.

Following spring break, East will host Franklin on April 5 and then travel to Smoky Mountain on April 7.

Emory leads Polk over Hendersonville

Carson Emory earned medalist honors Tuesday to lead Polk County to a dual-match win over Hendersonville in boys golf action at Hendersonville Country Club on Tuesday.

Emory fired a 37 in the nine-hole match for the low score of the day as Polk County notched a team score of 160, besting Hendersonville by six shots.

Evan Jones and Avery Harden each added a 41, with Reilly Yoder carding a 42. Braxton Edwards had a 49 for the Wolverines.

Polk County has a match scheduled Thursday at Crooked Creek Golf Course, weather permitting.

West Henderson finishes second to TCR

On Tuesday at Champion Hills Club, T.C. Roberson’s girls golf team carded a 164 to take the team Western Mountain Athletic Conference win over West Henderson, which finished runner-up with a final of 172.

Katy Conner of Roberson took medalist honors with a 49. Other individual leaders were West’s Emila Cashman with a 54, West’s Mia McCall with a 56 and TCR’s Anna Prado with a 57.

Up next for West is a home match Tuesday at Etowah Valley Golf & Resort.
