Driving range at Ala Wai Golf Course sports a new look … and a new mission

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – The driving range at the Ala Wai Golf Course reopened Friday morning after being closed for three months.

During that time the city completed several upgrades to the facility.

“We improved the range itself and dealt with some irrigation system issues as well as a brand new putting green and some upgrades to the facility,” said Jordan Abe, with the city’s Golf Division.

The driving range will also have new operators and everyone who enjoys an afternoon of hitting range balls will be giving back to an important nonprofit.

“Everybody that comes in here and enjoys a facility … they’re going to be supporting the Hawaii State Junior Golf Association and First Tee of Hawaii,” said Chris Noda, director of golf operations for HSJGA/First Tee of Hawaii.

“We’re going to have thousands of kids here to teach them life values through the game of golf.”

The Ala Wai Golf Course Driving Range is open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
