A text message went out to all golfers participating in the 2021 Players Championship warning them that every shot and sound would be caught on video this year at TPC Sawgrass. That is hopefully a harbinger for what should be an unbelievable week of golf, content and fun.
Players Championship week is always one of the best of the year. With an expanded field, myriad storylines and a string of incredible finishes leading into this week, I don’t know that I’ve ever been more excited than I am for the first big event of 2021. Though golf has not come all the way back from start of the pandemic, we’re a long way from where we were 52 weeks ago and should be able to complete the first Players in nearly two years.
Rory McIlroy is trying to become the first golfer ever to successfully defend his title here, and he’s joined at the top of the odds board by Dustin Johnson, Bryson DeChambeau, Collin Morikawa (all three have won this year), Justin Thomas, Jon Rahm, Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele — all looking for their first win at The Players.
