2021 Northern Trust leaderboard: Live coverage, golf scores, FedEx Cup Playoffs updates in Round 2

The first leg of the FedEx Cup Playoffs started with a bang as Jon Rahm and Justin Thomas both went low to open The Northern Trust with 63s to sit three shots clear of the field. Round 2 on Friday at Liberty National will bring with it the same tremendous views — New York City lingering in the background, the Hudson River in the foreground — as the rest of the field looks up on two of the best golfers in the world.

Whether Rahm and/or Thomas hold on to their lead entering the weekend remains to be seen, but the way they both played Thursday lends one to believe they will be atop the leaderboard with two rounds in the books. And while it’s important to win any PGA Tour event, staying in contention throughout the FedEx Cup Playoffs is the name of the game so golfers can qualify and compete for the $15 million grand prize at the Tour Championship in a few weeks. In fact, the top eight finishers in the Tour Championship all get payouts in excess of $1 million.

CBS Sports will be with you the entire way Friday updating this story with the latest scores, analysis and highlights from Round 2 of The Northern Trust. Keep it locked here throughout the entire round, take a quick glance at the leaders atop of the page and view a more detailed leaderboard.
