The Athletic are reporting that some at Chelsea rate Marc Guehi as an even better player than Fikayo Tomori, amid speculation that he is on his way to Crystal Palace.

What’s the story?

Guehi is leaving Chelsea for London rivals Palace, according to The Athletic.

The Guardian have reported that the transfer fee that Palace will pay Chelsea could reach up to £20 million.

The Athletic have claimed that some at Chelsea believe that Guehi is ‘an even better prospect than fellow defender’ Fikayo Tomori.

The 23-year-old England international central defender has joined AC Milan on a permanent contract for £25 million, according to The Athletic.

Exciting for Crystal Palace fans

Guehi is only 21 years of age and has failed to make a single appearance in the Premier League for Chelsea.

However, the England Under-21 international was a regular for Swansea City during his loan spell at the Championship club.

The youngster made 43 appearances in the Championship for the Welsh outfit last season.

The Athletic‘s report this morning suggests that Palace are getting a quality centre-back in Guehi.

Of course, it could take the 21-year-old a while to adapt to Palace’s system, but he does seem to have a bright future ahead.
