West Brom fans have been reacting to the club’s latest managerial update as their search for a new manager continues.

John Percy, Midlands football reporter for the Telegraph, posted on Twitter announcing that West Brom want Barnsley manager Valérien Ismaël as their new head coach.

West Brom fans replied to the tweet with their thoughts on the most recent update.

Judging by the replies, it looks like Baggies fans would be happy to see Ismael take charge.

Ismael was appointed as manager of Barnsley in October 2020 and guided the club to a fifth-place finish in the Championship after a strong season for the Tykes. However, his Barnsley side were unable to make it to Wembley as they were defeated in the play-off semi-final by Swansea City.

Barnsley were 21st in the table when Ismael took charge, following the departure of former Tykes manager Gerhard Struber, who left to join MLS side New York Red Bulls.

It is understood that West Brom will have to pay Barnsley a £2 million buyout fee if they want to make Ismael their new head coach, something which West Brom reporter for the Express and Star Joseph Masi has stated the Baggies have been ‘open to’ throughout their search for a new manager.

Will Ismael become the new manager of West Brom and is it an appointment that will help guide the Baggies back to the Premier League?
