Anthony Martial could return for Man Utd after recovering from a knee injury, having failed to meet fitness requirements to feature in Monday’s 1-1 draw at Newcastle.

Victor Lindelof (Coronavirus) and Bruno Fernandes (suspension) are ruled out as Paul Pogba (quad) remains absent.

Burnley could welcome Dale Stephens back into contention after he spent recent weeks rebuilding his match fitness, having self-isolated following a positive Coronavirus test.

Maxwel Cornet (thigh) is a doubt but Connor Roberts (fitness) and Ashley Barnes (thigh) remains absent.

Stat Attack

  • Man Utd have lost just one of their last five league meetings against Burnley (W3, D1, L1).
  • Burnley are unbeaten in four of their last five visits to Old Trafford (W1, D3, L1).
  • Chris Wood has scored in two of Burnley’s last three away matches against Man Utd.
  • Man Utd are yet to score from a free-kick this season in the Premier League.
  • Ashley Westwood has created more passes than any other Burnley player in 15 league games this season, having produced 595 passes in 13 appearances.

Prediction

Following Monday’s weak defensive performance despite threatening well in attack, Utd need to refocus and find their best style under Ralf Rangnick because there is a clear disconnection in those areas which was only saved by David De Gea otherwise it would of been a huge defeat surely.

Burnley meanwhile have had rotten luck lately with three consecutive fixtures postponed through zero fault of their own, so will come here fully fresh after a fortnight off which makes this interesting because they can afford to just fully go for it here unlike Man Utd.

Utd though surely can’t be any worse than they were on Monday and there likely will be questions around rustiness within the Burnley team, yet the longer this stays goalless then the more confident Burnley should be in getting a result.

Prediction: Manchester United 1-1 Burnley
