BUENOS AIRES, March 20 (Xinhua) — A second-half strike from Colombian forward Sebastian Villa fired Boca Juniors to a 1-0 away victory over rivals River Plate in Argentina’s Primera Division on Sunday.

Villa capitalized on a moment of hesitation from Leandro Gonzalez to round goalkeeper Franco Armani and slot a cool finish into an empty net.

The result at the Monumental stadium lifted Boca to second in the 14-team Group B standings, trailing Estudiantes on goal difference.

River dropped to third in Group A, two points behind leaders Racing Club.

In other fixtures on Sunday, Newell’s Old Boys won 1-0 at Rosario Central and Estudiantes drew 1-1 at Gimnasia.
