RIO DE JANEIRO, Jan. 1 (Xinhua) — Vasco da Gama are in talks to sign Paraguay international striker Luis Amarilla, according to local media reports.
Amarilla is tied to Velez Sarsfield until June 30 and the Argentine club is seeking to offload the 26-year-old on a permanent deal, Globo Esporte said on Saturday.
It added that the center-forward has shown a preference for joining the Rio de Janeiro outfit amid reported interest from suitors in other leagues.
Amarilla spent last year on loan at Ecuador’s LDU Quito, scoring 15 goals in 31 matches following his move from Chilean side Universidad Catolica.
He made his international debut for Paraguay in a 2022 World Cup qualifier last September, playing the full 90 minutes in a 2-0 loss to Ecuador in Quito.
