UEFA CL: Barca, Sevilla drop to the Europa League, Wolfsburg & Young Boys crash out of Europe

It was another exciting night in the Champions League and not many thought this would ever happen, but, Barcelona have dropped to the Europa League!

This is the first time the Spanish giants have failed to make it past the group stage of the competition for the first time since the 2000-01 season.

Here’s what happened in the late-night matches:

Group E

  • Bayern Munich 3-0 Barcelona
  • Benfica 2-0 Dynamo Kyiv

Barcelona will now play in the Europa League, and Bayern Munich will progress to the knockout phase with Benfica.

Group F

  • Man Utd 1-1 Young Boys
  • Atalanta vs Villarreal – postponed (to be played on Thursday)

Young Boys have dropped out of the competition, and it now remains to be seen who drops to the Europe League between Atalanta and Villarreal.

Group G

  • Salzburg 1-0 Sevilla
  • Wolfsburg 1-3 Lille

In Group G, everything was on the line as all four teams entered the last matchday with a chance of progressing to the knockout stages. At the end of it all, Lille and Red Bull Salzburg have made it through to the knockout stages, Sevilla will play in the Europa League, and Wolfsburg are out of all European competitions.
