The transfer window is in full swing for the summer and one of the more underrated transfer stories to pop up recently involves Liverpool’s Xherdan Shaqiri.

There have been rumors that Shaqiri asked for a transfer away as of late, and Liverpool have decided to accept any serious offers to come their way. Is Xherdan Shaqiri leaving Liverpool this summer?

Where could Xherdan Shaqiri move to this summer?

There are bound to be quite a few teams interested in a move for Xherdan Shaqiri this summer. Although he hasn’t been a major part of Liverpool’s squad as of late, he is still a quality player who can have a big impact for a decent price. Based on his performances at the Euro’s he can definitely still play at a high level.

The main team that is rumored to be targeting Xherdan Shaqiri is Lazio. As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Shaqiri is interested in a move to Italy. With that being said, Lazio seems to be heavily interested and very well could be the favorite to land his signature.

There is also a report from Sky Sports that other interested teams could include Napoli, Sevilla and Villarreal. It’s yet to be seen which team will make their interest concrete, but the competition for his signature could start to heat up soon.

How could a Xherdan Shaqiri transfer affect Liverpool?

Although Xherdan Shaqiri did not play for Liverpool that much in the Premier League this season, he was an important squad player.

With only 5 starts in the Premier League last season, Shaqiri was able to make 14 total appearances, showcasing how important he was for squad depth.

One player who could benefit from this move is Harvey Elliott. He is tipped to be a future star and may stay at Liverpool this season to compete for game time.

It’s also possible that Liverpool looks to the transfer market for more attacking players. They will also be looking to replace Gini Wijnaldum who moved to PSG earlier this summer.

With plenty of different options, Liverpool should be just fine trying to replace Xherdan Shaqiri.
