Journalist Charlie Eccleshare has been speaking on the latest episode of The View From The Lane podcast to discuss all things Tottenham Hotspur related.
The north London side were held to a 2-2 draw in France in the first of their Europa Conference League group stage games against Stade Rennais.
Who is more important for Spurs?
Kane
However, further injury concerns were created in the European clash with both Steven Bergwijn and Lucas Moura being forced off early through injury issues.
The Spurs winger, Son Heung-min, suffered a calf injury during his time on international duty with South Korea which kept him out of the Crystal Palace defeat.
However, The Athletic journalist had an encouraging claim to reveal regarding the latest in the South Korean’s fight to return from his injury issue for the upcoming game against Chelsea (23:36):
“I think he will. From what I’m hearing, I think he will play, but who knows.”
TIF Thoughts on a potential return for Son…
We do not think it is a coincidence that Spurs struggled against the Eagles last weekend in the absence of their South Korean winger.
So far this season, Son has been able to find the back of the net on two occasions in the Premier League which is pretty damning considering the Lilywhites have only scored three goals in total in the league (via Transfermarkt).
Given how productive he was for them last season both in terms of goals and assists, it was always going to be a struggle to replace his attacking prowess without him in the team.
Although we feel there was a lack of creative players in Nuno Espirito Santo’s midfield on the day, with Harry Kane still without a goal in the league we think Spurs will be desperate for Son to make his return this weekend.
