Tottenham Hotspur fans on Twitter have been responding to the latest claim to emerge concerning Lilywhites duo Dane Scarlett and Alfie Devine.
This comes after Spurs-focused Twitter account @thespursweb shared a post on their page relaying news originally published in a recent Q&A article from The Athletic’s Charlie Eccleshare.
In the article, Eccleshare claimed that Scarlett and Devine are “extremely well-thought-of at Spurs, and neither will be loaned out in the coming season.”
Eccleshare also added that they are “expected to train with the first team and, after making their debuts last season, be given minutes in the Europa Conference League.”
This post then gathered a number of replies from Tottenham supporters, who were not shy in sharing their thoughts on this latest claim.
So, what did these Spurs fans have to say in response to this claim about Scarlett and Devine from Eccleshare?
“Exactly what I wanted to hear for how we’re approaching that competition #COYS #THFC“
“This is great”
“Our ECL starting XI is actually going to be brilliantly talented, and these two will be at its core. Excited to see what they can do.”
“YESSSSSS”
“Fantastic”
“Exactly what’s best for them both”
Looking at the replies to this post, it seems as though these Spurs fans are delighted by the claim from Eccleshare that Scarlett and Devine are expected to have some sort of role in the first team next season.
Would you be happy to see Scarlett and Devine play in the Europa Conference League?
Yes
No
Last season saw Scarlett make one appearance for Spurs in the Premier League and two in the Europa League, whereas Devine made just one appearance in the FA Cup.
In our view, if the duo are given a substantial amount of game time next season, then they will have to make sure they take every opportunity that comes their way with both hands if they want to develop their careers and perhaps make a stake to become regular first-team players under Nuno Espirito Santo.
