Tottenham eye Tielemans transfer | FootballFanCast.com

Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte and his transfer chief, Fabio Paratici, are interested in a deal to bring Youri Tielemans to Spurs in the summer transfer window.

What’s the talk?

That’s according to a Fabrizio Romano, with the Italian journalist and transfer insider revealing on a recent episode of the Here We Go podcast that the central midfielder will be leaving Leicester City at the end of the season, as well as claiming that Conte and Paratici are interested in bringing the 24-year-old to Tottenham this summer.

Regarding Tottenham’s interest in the Belgium international, Romano said: “Tielemans is going to leave Leicester at the end of the season, 100%. There are many clubs interested, Tottenham included. But, there is still nothing close. Tottenham are not negotiating with Leicester at the moment, or negotiating with Tielemans.

“They are exploring the situation, but for them, it is really important to know if they will be playing Champions League football or not [next season]. But, it’s true that he’s a player on Tottenham’s radar.”

Supporters will be buzzing

Considering how impressive Tielemans has been for Leicester in recent seasons, Romano’s claim that Spurs are plotting a move for the Belgium international this summer is sure to have left the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium faithful buzzing.

Indeed, over his 25 Premier League appearances in the current campaign, the £49.5m-rated midfielder has been one of Brendan Rodgers’ standout performers, scoring six goals, registering two assists and creating four big chances for his teammates, as well as taking an average of two shots and making 1.3 key passes per game.

The £120k-per-week playmaker has also impressed in metrics more typical of his position, enjoying an average of 69.2 touches per fixture, in addition to completing 43.6 passes, 2.4 long balls, 0.8 interceptions, 2.3 tackles and winning five duels per outing.

These returns have seen the player who Stuart James dubbed a “huge talent” average a quite remarkable SofaScore match rating of 7.15, ranking him as the Foxes’ second-best player in the English top flight.

As such, it is clear for all to see that Tielemans would make an exceptional addition to Conte’s current options in the middle of the park, and would represent a huge upgrade on someone like Harry Winks – who has himself been linked with a move away from north London this summer.
