The LSU Tigers currently have the No. 3 recruiting class in 2022, per 247Sports. The Tigers have 11 prospects committed for 2022 and remain involved with some of the nation’s top prospects.
Could LSU now be on the verge of landing an elite pass-rusher for 2022?
Five-star defensive end Shemar Stewart recently told Andrew Ivins of 247Sports he was setting up his official visits and the Tigers would be first on the list.
Per Ivins, Stewart has tentative plans to visit Baton Rouge on the weekend of June 4. Stewart’s visit for June 4 is pending the NCAA finally lifts the dead period on in-person recruiting, which has been in place since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic last year.
Stewart, a 6-foot-5, 240-pound defensive end from Monsignor Pace in Opa Locka, Florida, also has interest in Georgia, Clemson, Miami, Ohio State and Texas A&M.
Per NCAA rules, each recruit receives five official visits.
Stewart has never visited LSU’s campus. Could the Tigers receiving the first official visit be viewed as a positive sign for Ed Orgeron and LSU?
Stewart is in no rush to make a decision and is expected to hold off on making an announcement until at least December, during the early signing period.
