Thomas Tuchel’s Antonio Rudiger tone starting to sound positive – Talk Chelsea

Friday afternoon bought yet another pre-match press conference from our head coach Thomas Tuchel today, with plenty of subjects to address as always.

Chelsea face Chesterfield in the FA Cup tomorrow evening, but attentions once again turned to the current contractual situations at the club, which we are all well aware of by now.

It would be amazing if you guys subscribed for my project over at Si & Dan Talk Chelsea, where we are putting out so much Chelsea content including DAILY Newsletters, exclusive news, breaking news, Podcasts, interviews, inside information, and bringing in some massive guests!

Antonio Rudiger is probably the most important one out of the three who are set to leave as free agents in June, and Blues fans would love to be celebrating him signing a new deal at the club sometime soon.

I’ve always been a little more positive on Rudiger staying, more than most anyway, and I listened to Tuchel’s words on Rudiger very carefully today and with great interest.

You can often get a lot from the words and tone of how a player or manager speaks when they are asked about the situation, and you can often form good judgements on them.

In the case of Cesar Azpilicueta, I read his words on the Chelsea website this morning as him not only being coy on his Chelsea future, but by the sounds of it he may well be nearing the exit door..

“As I always said, I feel I have the trust and confidence of the club and now I am focused on every game,” Azpi stressed.

“They are very tough games, and I am enjoying the moment. Eventually the moment will come, but I am fully focused on hopefully getting as many trophies as we can and then we will see.

“I cannot say anything more than that I am really committed and have a lot of things ahead in the coming months and hopefully we can have a very good season.”

Talking about the short term here and pretty much brushing it under the rug, that doesn’t bode well.

However, Tuchel’s comments on Rudiger’s future today were a little more positive from my judgements and made me feel that perhaps he has heard that the German international could stay at the club after all.

“He’s a guy that needs to trust you and feel the connection and he wants to feel it by minutes and by actions, he doesn’t need a lot of words and pampering,” Tuchel said via Si & Dan Talk Chelsea.

“He’s very important we are in talks, it’s in good hands I trust the club 100% and have trust in my player. It’s a no problem situation for me.”

Now I’m not daft and wont start claiming that this is Rudiger definitely staying at Chelsea, because anything can still happen here. But I’ve certainly been given even more positivity on the situation after hearing those comments today from the boss. Let’s see what happens.
