Speaking to Real Madrid TV, Thibaut Courtois discussed becoming the player he is today.
“At 16 you don’t position yourself as well, you don’t play as well with your feet, you don’t have the same reflexes or experience. The best years for a goalkeeper are usually between 28 and 30 something. It’s nice to see the trajectory from my debut at 16 until today. Obviously, I couldn’t believe at that time that today I would be at Real Madrid. I had a Bernabéu flag in my room, a Casillas shirt and never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d be sitting in this chair. It’s like living a dream.
“Being at Real Madrid is a dream and I continue to see that dream every day. I hope to continue for many years here at this level. I am very happy. There is nothing nicer than living in Madrid. It’s a spectacular city and, as I said before, I plan to live here forever.”
