Liverpool added Luis Diaz to their squad in the dying embers of the January transfer window for a reported £40 million fee, beating off interest from Tottenham to secure their long term target ahead of the planned move for the Colombian in the summer.

Diaz is yet to train with his new teammates, having been away on international duty when he joined the Merseyside outfit, but could still make his debut on Sunday in their FA Cup 4th round clash with Championship side Cardiff.

What needs to happen?

Reliable journalist for The Times Paul Joyce has revealed that Diaz currently waits in Paris for a visa in order to enter the UK, while he would have to attend a work permit hearing upon arrival, although it is unsure when that will be.

Should it be within the next 24 hours, and Diaz is able to manage a training session with his new side, then it is reported that he is ‘likely’ to make his Liverpool debut on Sunday, although whether he would start or come off the bench remains to be seen.

But, with Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah both still away at the Africa Cup of Nations, he could be thrown in from the off.
