Lyall Thomas has dropped an update regarding the injury sustained by Tottenham Hotspur wing-back Ryan Sessegnon.

In a recent post on Twitter, the Sky Sports News assistant editor revealed that, after picking up a knock in Spurs’ 5-0 win over Everton on Sunday, the 21-year-old was sent for scans on his hamstring on Tuesday afternoon.
Thomas goes on to state that there is concern amongst those at Tottenham that the defender’s injury could well be a recurrence of a previous problem, as the injury is to the same muscle the England U21 international damaged earlier this season.
Regarding Sessegnon’s injury, the journalist said: “Ryan Sessegnon is having scans today on a possible hamstring problem. Concerns it is [the] same muscle as last time. Should become clearer later. Shame for him – was again coming into some good form. Done [very] well considering knocks have interrupted his progress this term.”

Conte will be livid
Considering the fact that, in recent fixtures, Sessegnon had finally started to show signs he could well go on to become a regular starter under Antonio Conte, the news that the wing-back could now be set for yet another lengthy spell on the sidelines is sure to have left the 52-year-old livid.
Indeed, the £13.5m-rated defender had finally managed to string together consecutive appearances for the Italian’s side, starting Spurs’ last five Premier League fixtures – an extremely promising sign after being sidelined for a large portion of the first half of the season due to injury.
And, not only was the youngster starting, he was beginning to demonstrate why the club spent £25m to sign him from Fulham back in 2019, turning in impressive performances against the likes of Burnley and Leeds United in recent weeks, registering an assist and proving a livewire down the left-hand side of the pitch.
However, following Thomas’ most recent update on the 21-year-old, it would now appear as if Sessegnon could well be back to square one in his progression to becoming a regular first-team starter at Spurs – something that will be incredibly frustrating for everyone involved with the club.
