Tottenham Hotspur legend Graham Roberts insists the club need to blame the coaching staff for allowing Noni Madueke to leave amid links with the PSV Eindhoven winger.
Madueke began his career at Spurs but left to move to PSV in 2017, where he has gone on to become a first-team star.
The 19-year-old has made a total of 44 appearances for the Dutch club throughout his time in the Eredivisie, and has scored 15 goals, while also providing nine assists.
Do Spurs need Madueke?
Yes – 100%
No way!
Reports suggest that Spurs are among a clutch of Premier League clubs interested in signing him this summer, including Leicester City, with the transfer deadline approaching.
Any deal would cost in excess of £30m and Roberts believes that there should be some criticism attached to the coaching staff at the club.
Madueke never graduated from the Spurs’ youth setup and failed to make a single senior appearance for the club. Per Transfermarkt, he played once in the U18 Premier League for the north London club.
And Roberts told Football FanCast: “We had him as a kid. He was at Tottenham as a kid. I don’t think you can blame the chairman, I think you have to blame the coaching staff, if they’ve let him go, and then you’re going to pay 30 million quid to get him back.”
