Spotify owner Daniel Ek ‘very serious’ about Arsenal takeover & has secured necessary funds

Daniel Ek interested in buying Arsenal

In the aftermath of Arsenal fan’s protest against KSE, Spotify founder Daniel Ek threw his hat into the ring regarding a potential takeover of the Gunners.

Ek, who has been an Arsenal fan since 1991, has a reported net worth believed to be in the region of $4.8m.

Ek has also been joined by Arsenal legends Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp and Patrick Vieira in his bid to buy the club.

However, the Spotify owner’s reported interest in buying the north London outfit does not appear to be going down well with some.

Tim Burgess, for example, has taken issue with the minimal fee artists are paid per play on Spotify, with some not being able to afford rent, whilst Ek is worth billions and looking to buy a Premier League club:

Daniel Ek serious about Arsenal bid

Now, on Wednesday, Daniel Ek has conducted an interview with CNBC, in which he was of course drawn on the Arsenal takeover rumours.

And in a big boost to the Arsenal faithful, Ek would confirm in said interview that he has indeed secured the funds for a potential takeover and is hopeful KSE will hear him out.

The Spotify owner did, however, also state he prepared for this to be a long journey:

“I’m very serious, I have secured the funds for it and I want to bring a very compelling offer to the owners and I hope they hear me out. I certainly didn’t expect this will happen overnight and I prepared for this to be a long journey.”
