Shasta County youth football players to be tested weekly

SHASTA COUNTY, Calif. – Shasta County’s case rate is now more than seven positive tests per 100,000, causing youth football to be tested weekly, Shasta County Health and Human Services Agency said.

Shasta County remains in the red tier as the adjusted case rate increased from 5.1 to 7.4 daily cases per 100,000 residents.

The county’s positivity rate increased from 1.8% to 2.7%.

On Tuesday, the county reported 19 new cases for people who were tested on Monday. 

All Shasta County residents who are older than the age of 16 are eligible for the vaccine.

The Pfizer vaccine is the only vaccine approved to administer to ages 16 and 17. A parent must be present when their child is vaccinated.
