Barcelona attempt Pedri recall
Barcelona yesterday are reported to have sent an appeal to the Spanish Football Federation asking for Pedri not to be included in the Spanish Olympic squad ahead of the Tokyo games.
Pedri has been with the Spanish national side throughout June at the European Championships but was also called up for the second summer tournament.

Barcelona are keen not to have their player involved in two tournaments and risk losing him due to recovery time or possible injury at the start of a new season.
Therefore they contacted the SFF in the hope that their appeal would see Pedri removed from the selection.

SFF deny Barca’s Pedri plea
However, Barcelona are set to be disappointed at the outcome of their attempts.
Reported by Radio Barcelona via Spanish outlet Marca, Barca have been unsuccessful in their appeal and Pedri will indeed join up with the Spanish national team once again at the Olympics.
That has been the reason that has pushed Barcelona to take steps to try to get the RFEF to rethink the call for the canary and remove him from the list so that he could rest. A decision that the Federation has already said they will not take. Pedri will be in Japan.
Interestingly, Eric Garcia was also called up to the Olympics and is involved with the Euro squad. However, no such appeal was made for the former Manchester City man by Barcelona.
Other players such as Unai Simon, Dani Olmo, Mikel Oyarzabal and Pau Torres who are also part of the double call-up.
