DStv Premiership side Sekhukhune United have relieved Owen Da Gama of his duties as co-coach ahead of the upcoming season.

Da Gama was brought in with five matches remaining of last season to work alongside MacDonald Makhubedu and his technical team.
According to Soccer Laduma, Da Gama and the club bosses had a disagreement leading to the two parties parting ways.

“Sekhukhune United Football Club have parted ways with Mr Owen “Thifhuriwi” Da Gama. Mr Da Gama joined Babina Noko in April 2022 as the co-coach to MacDonald Makhubedu for the remainder of the 2021/22 DStv Premiership League season. Sekhukhune United Football Club would like to wish Mr Da Gama all the best,” the club confirmed in a statement.
Sekhukhune United finished 11th this season
Da Gama, now 60, has coached at several clubs since his retirement as a player, including among other Orlando Pirates, TS Galaxy, Highlands Park and the South African Under-23 team and Bafana Bafana.

Sekhukhune United finished 11th in the recent 2021/22 DStv Premiership season, missing out on the top 8, but at the same time avoiding relegation.
