Scottish Women’s Football is working with women’s homelessness charity Simon Community Scotland to raise funds to support women experiencing homelessness by providing underwear.
Ahead of the Scottish Women’s Cup Final on Sunday 29th, sponsors Biffa are backing SWF and Simon Community Scotland with a fundraising drive to ensure that women supported by the charity have access to a basic necessity – clean underwear.
This supports the work Simon Community Scotland already does to provide free period products to anyone at risk of homelessness in Scotland.
Those who can’t attend the showcase game in Scottish Women’s Football are being asked to donate the price of a match ticket – £5 – to the ‘we need pants’ JustGiving Page.
Commenting, Scottish Women’s Football CEO Aileen Campbell said: “Women’s football champions equality, and I am determined that we play our part to eliminate period poverty. The cost of living is rising quickly and for women experiencing homelessness, clean underwear is not a luxury but a necessary part of someone’s dignity and basic hygiene.
“We are delighted to support our partners for the Scottish Women’s Cup Final, Biffa and Simon Community Scotland, with this important initiative that will raise vital funds to provide dignity to women when they are their most vulnerable.
“The price of a cup final ticket is only £5, and we are asking those who are not able to attend to donate to this important cause.”

Sometimes the women we support have nothing but the clothes on their back when we meet them. Please help us provide them safety, warmth, support and dignity.”
