Scott Arfield admits Rangers improvement under Giovanni van Bronckhorst as he discusses Ibrox future

Scott Arfield has hailed the ‘positive’ impact of new Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

The Light Blues remain undefeated in the Dutchman’s first five games since replacing Steven Gerrard in the Ibrox hotseat.

Rangers claimed an impressive 1-1 draw against Lyon in the Europa League on Thursday night ahead of their trip to face Hearts at Tynecastle on Sunday.

Midfielder Arfield has been impressed by the Dutchman and he claims that the Gers look more ‘fluid’ since the 46-year-old’s arrival.

Arfield said: “It looks a wee bit more fluid and positive but that comes with the freshness of a new manager and new voice.

“You can see that all around the world, that bounce from a new manager and we are certainly benefitting from it at the minute.

“It looks a bit more fluid from us – that’s for sure.

“We are all enjoying working under the manager and that has been shown in our performances.

“I don’t think much has changed. He’s tweaking different personnel at different.

“Due to the volume of games, we can’t do much on the training pitch with a full 25 man squad because of recovery.

“Team meetings have probably been out training.”

Arfield is out of contract with Rangers at the end of the season and he is free to talk to other clubs from next month.

But the Canadian international insist he’s happy at the Ibrox club and wants to concentrate on his football.

“It’s going to take its own natural course, to be honest,” he said. “I’m happy here and everybody knows I’m happy here.

“As it goes on into May, June or July when you’re out of contract, that’s five or six months down the line.

“Right now, I’m full focused on getting in the team, staying in the team and helping the team as much as possible.”
