Foot Mercato report this morning that with Vladimir Petković set to be sacked after another bruising defeat, this time 5-0 to Reims, Bordeaux have drawn up a shortlist to replace the Bosnian coach.
Club president Gérard Lopez is said to be ready to terminate the former Swiss national team manager’s contract, which runs until 2024, as the club lie in 19th place.
As the team prepare to face Lens next weekend, a number of names have emerged as potential replacement options, notably João Sacramento, formerly assistant to José Mourinho and Christophe Galtier. The club management are reportedly looking to bring in a French speaker and have reached out to former Reims coach David Guion, who turned down Saint-Étienne in December.
Former Lille, Marseille and Lyon man Rudi Garcia has also emerged today as an option. However, having been linked to the likes of Monaco and Manchester United of late, Garcia has indicated that he would want to take on a project with a view to managing in the Champions League, which Bordeaux are unlikely to be able to offer.
