Cristiano Ronaldo showed his flair for the dramatic yet again in the Champions League, scoring twice on Tuesday night against Atalanta, including a dramatic equalizer in the second minute of second-half stoppage time to salvage a 2-2 draw for Manchester United.
Ronaldo gives United a valuable point with late goal
It was a critical goal for Ronaldo and the Red Devils, who looked set to be headed for their second consecutive away defeat in this year’s Champions League group stage. However, Ronaldo’s 92nd-minute goal breathed new life to Manchester United’s European campaign, with the Red Devils still hanging on to first place in Group F, albeit on goal difference, with just two more games remaining.

Manchester United paid Juventus a significant amount of money to bring Ronaldo back to Old Trafford for the second time. It has been money well spent for the Red Devils, with Ronaldo singlehandedly keeping United’s dream alive in Europe’s premier football club competition.
He has scored in all four of United’s Champions League games this season, scoring a total of five goals during that stretch. He scored a 95th-minute winner against Villareal to give United all three points and recorded an 81st-minute winner in the game against Atalanta at Old Trafford. His late equalizer against Atalanta in Italy underlines his importance to United in football’s biggest stage.

Bayern Munich advance to the round of 16
Bayern Munich sealed their passage to the round of 16 with a comprehensive 5-2 victory over Benfica at the Allianz Arena. Robert Lewandowski put on quite a show in his 100th Champions League appearance, scoring a hat-trick to help Bayern reach the knockout stages.
Lewandowski opened the scoring for Bayern in the 26th minute, heading in Kingsley Coman’s delightful cross. He then turned provider for Bayern’s second goal, setting up Serge Gnabry’s backheel finish. Lewandowski scored two incredible chips in the second half to record his fourth hat-trick in the Champions League.
Lewandowski has started the season like a house on fire, bagging 22 goals in 18 games for Bayern. He has been in sublime form in the Champions League, racking up eight goals through Bayern’s first four games.
The German giants have won all four of their Champions League games thus far this season, scoring a joint record of 17 goals at this stage of the competition. One team that is happy with Bayern’s two-game sweep of Benfica is FC Barcelona. The Catalan giants jumped past Benfica into second place in Group E following their 1-0 win over Dynamo Kyiv.
Ansu Fati was the hero for Barcelona, scoring the game’s lone goal in the 70th minute to secure all three points for the Spanish outfit. In the 50 matches that he has played for Barcelona, Fati has scored a total of 16 goals, three of which have come in the Champions League.
