BUENOS AIRES, Jan. 29 (Xinhua) — River Plate have reached an agreement to sign winger Esequiel Barco on loan from Atlanta United, the Argentine club said on Saturday.
The 22-year-old will be tied to River until December 2023 with an option to remain with the reigning Primera Division champions on a permanent basis should all parties agree.
“Welcome to [Argentina’s] biggest club, Esequiel,” River said on social media.
Barco is the fifth new signing for River in 2022, joining Emanuel Mammana, Leandro Gonzalez, Tomas Pochettino and Juan Fernando Quintero.
River will open their Argentine top-flight season with an away clash against Union Santa Fe on February 12.
