Speaking on his YouTube channel, Rio Ferdinand has given his verdict on Luis Diaz after his bright start to life at Liverpool.

The Colombian has taken to life in the Premier League like a duck to water after joining Liverpool in January. He’s playing scintillating stuff and he’s having an impact in front of goal.

Ferdinand’s co-host claimed that Diaz is the Reds’ new franchise player, stating that fans will go to Anfield just to watch the winger.

While Ferdinand wasn’t quite on board with that point of view, he stated that the winger is an incredibly exciting player.

What’s been said?

Ferdinand discussed Diaz.

“They have a new franchise player, Luis Diaz, he is the one that people want to go into the stadiums and watch,” Ferdinand’s co-host said.

“Franchise player you know, Diaz is proper, Diaz excites people, I will say that,” Ferdinand said.

So exciting

Liverpool have been such a well-oiled machine for so long, but the addition of Diaz has added a bit more spice into that frontline.

Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, as brilliant as they are, can be somewhat robotic at times, they break with pace, get into the right areas and finish so clinically, but Diaz goes against the grain, he’s a dribbler who will try audacious tricks and long shots.

Diaz may not be the Reds’ new franchise player, but he’s arguably the most exciting footballer in the Premier League right now.
