Richarlison cannot guarantee his future at Everton

Key Everton front man and Brazilian international Richarlison has failed to guarantee his future at Goodison Park.

As reported by SkySports, the former Fluminense and Watford forward admitted that there was no certainty surrounding his future at the club, stating “I don’t know what the future holds. If one day I have to go, it must be good for me, but also for the club.”

With the most prominent interest coming from Paris Saint-Germain this summer amidst the uncertainty surrounding whether or not Kylian Mbappé would be off to Real Madrid, it would be hard to argue with the Brazilian moving on from the blue half of Merseyside if bigger clubs officially come calling.

Despite the interest, the native of Nova Venécia did say that he will fight for the shirt regardless of what happens down the road;

I’m always very careful when I talk about it. I have great affection for the people of Everton and for the club, who received me so well from the first day I arrived.

I don’t know what the future holds. If one day I have to go, it must be good for me, but also for the club.

But if I stay, I will continue giving my life for this shirt and for the fans, who have always supported me and were with me at all times.

I have enormous gratitude and feel at home when I am at Finch Farm training ground or Goodison Park stadium.”

Does the data back up the interest?

Richarlison took to life quite well along the river Mersey after his arrival from Watford in the summer of 2018, hitting 13-goals in back-to-back seasons to kick-start his stint at Goodison Park with a very solid return.

But 2020-21 was a more frustrating time regarding the data as the Brazilian found the back of the net just seven times in 34-appearances in the Premier League while adding 3-assists.

With a goal contribution of just 0.29 goals + assists per match, it is hard to view the numbers and see why clubs the likes of Barcelona and PSG have been linked in the past.

Through four appearances in the current campaign, Richarlison has found the back of the net once and added one assist to his personal scoreboard. Those numbers are below summer signings Demarai Gray (3 goals & 1 assist) and Andros Townsend (2 goals & 2 assists), as well as center-forward talisman Dominic Calvert-Lewin (3 goals).

If another big bid came Everton’s way in the near future, there is scope to suggest that the club brass could very well sanction his sale if it meant the club could progress in their current project.
