Reports make for worrying Liverpool reading as megastar’s exit draws closer

A Liverpool megastar is being lined-up as a potential world-class replacement by a European giant, a report has claimed.

The 2021 summer transfer window was seismic and we are set for more of the same next year. Erling Haaland will be the focus of one of the most fiercely fought transfer battles in history. His Borussia Dortmund team-mate, Jude Bellingham, may be set for a major Premier League switch.

And Kylian Mbappe is more than likely going to departing Paris Saint-Germain. His next destination seems to be Real Madrid.

The Parisians want Haaland to fill the Mbappe-shaped hole in their squad come the end of the season. But every other top European side wants the Norway international too.

And Spanish outlet AS suggested he may snub any approach from PSG.

This would leave them considering alternative options. According to Le10Sport, the man top of this list is Mohamed Salah.

They claim if PSG sporting director Leonardo fails to get Haaland, he will turn to Salah as his next choice.

With the French outlet also suggesting Haaland will prioritise a Premier League move, it makes for worrying reading for Reds fans.

Salah is still yet to agree new terms at Anfield in the ongoing contract discussions with the club.

Recent reports indicated the 29-year-old is holding out for £500k per week. But the Liverpool Echo report this is untrue.

In fact, The Telegraph claim the Egyptian’s desired figure is actually £400k in weekly wages. The clock is ticking towards his 2023 expiry all the while.

Salah is an attractive option for PSG’s owners, as per the report. His status as the ‘best Arab player’ means his arrival would be met with great appreciation.

Salah shines in Madrid

Liverpool may be inclined to give their star man what he wants after he proved his worth once more in the Champions League last night.

He danced his way past three Atletico Madrid defenders in a motion that has become extremely familiar in recent weeks, before netting the opening goal.

Then when his side needed him the most he stepped up to convert the winning penalty with a real ice-in-his-veins finish.

His remarkable start to the season has now seen him bag in all but one of his 10 appearances for the Reds this season.
