Ajax are plotting a swoop to bring Steven Bergwijn back to the Netherlands this summer.
Soccer News report via De Oranjezomer that the Dutch wideman wants to make that move too.
They report that Ajax need to sell before they can bid for Bergwijn, and they’ve got a plan.
Ajax want to offload Edson Alvarez to Rennes and once those negotiations are done, they’ll use the money on Bergwijn.
Bergwijn cost Spurs £27 million – as per BBC – when he signed from PSV Eindhoven back in January 2020.
And the report claims Ajax would need to pay 25 million euros (£21.6 million) to buy him this summer.
They could of course offer him Champions League football. They will take part in the group stages.
Spurs are in the European Conference League. It’s an intriguing new competition but not one players dream of playing their football.
Bergwijn hasn’t pulled up many trees since his arrival but he has a new manager to impress in Nuno Espirito Santo now.
He may fancy his chances of getting a tune out of the Dutch wideman, who is still just 23 and can improve greatly.
But if Bergwijn wants to go and Ajax have the money, Spurs would have a decision to make.
