Reading have announced the signing of Danish international midfielder Sanne Troelsgaard on a two-and-a-half-year deal until summer 2023.
The 33-year-old attack-minded player joins The Royals on the back of spending four years with Swedish club FC Rosengård.
Troelsgaard is one of Denmark’s most decorated players with the midfielder being the second-highest appearance holder for her country with 160 caps while she is the third-highest all-time top scorer with 55 goals. At club level, Troelsgaard has enjoyed a successful career which has seen her lift league titles both in her native Denmark and in Sweden. She has also won a number of domestic cups.
The midfielder netted nine goals in 21 Damallsvenskan appearances in 2021 while she represented former club FC Rosengård in the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
After completing the capture of Troelsgaard, Reading boss Kelly Chambers said “Sanne is a great addition to the club. She brings a wealth of experience in the women’s game at international and Champions League level.
“She is someone that wants to come and be a part of this growing group and make an impact in the league. Sanne is still so hungry to progress and wants to push this club with the magnificent group I have already.
“I’m excited for her to be a part of this team and to continue the great work that is happening already.”
Troelsgaard will link-up with her new teammates after the Christmas break as The Royals prepare for their next game against Leicester City on 9 January 2022.
