The race to secure ownership of Premier League giants Chelsea looks primed to come to an imminent close, amid widespread claims that a preferred buyer has been decided upon.
The bid in question comes by way of Todd Boehly.
American businessman Boehly had long been viewed as amongst the frontrunners to take up the reins in the boardroom at Stamford Bridge, on the back of Roman Abramovich making his intention to sell public early last month.
And now, as per Matt Law of the Daily Telegraph, the owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers looks set to add further to his portfolio of sports clubs by way of the takeover of Chelsea.
It is understood that Boehly’s bid worth upwards of £3.5 million has been selected as the pick of the bunch on the part of those overseeing the changing of hands in west London.
The 48-year-old, as a result, will imminently be informed of his status as Chelsea’s preferred buyer.
This comes despite the last-minute efforts of Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Britain’s wealthiest man, to hijack Boehly’s bid.

Toffees clash
Turning attentions back towards the pitch, Chelsea will of course be back in Premier League action this coming weekend.
After stuttering to a share of the spoils despite a dominant display at Old Trafford on Thursday, the Pensioners are set to make the trip to Goodison Park, for what could well prove a tricky assignment up against relegation-battling Everton.
Thomas Tuchel’s troops, though, all told, have little left to play for when it comes to league position, having already all-but sewn up 3rd place in the English top-flight, six points clear of Arsenal in 4th with just five games to play.
