Rangers are continuing their efforts to strengthen their ranks this summer with reports this afternoon that they’ve made an offer for Colombian midfielder Santiago Moreno.

Steven Gerrard is preparing his side for a crack at the Champions League qualifiers next season, following their first Premiership title triumph since 2011, and he’s already completed the signing of Zambian striker Fashion Sakala.

And now it seems the next priority is the Ibrox club ‘s midfield, with Colombian news outlet Express Futbol claiming this afternoon that the Gers had tabled a bid worth €3million, but face competition from Norwich City and an unnamed MLS side.

The diminutive holding midfielder is 21, and has made 41 league appearances for his current team América de Cali in his homeland’s top-flight since breaking through from the youth ranks two years ago.

Gerrard’s attempts to land Moreno could be as a replacement for Bongani Zungu, with the South African international set to rejoin parent club Amiens following a woefully disappointing loan spell in Glasgow.
