It has been 51 years since 66 supporters died as a result of a crush on a stairway at the stadium.

And the Light Blues have remembered those who passed away and those affected by the incident every year since.

This morning, Rangers legend Greig and club directors gathered at the memorial outside the stadium for a short service.

Sporting director Ross Wilson, commercial and marketing director James Bisgrove and Graeme Park were just some of those in attendance.

A minister conducted the proceedings as the former player and manager could be seen standing with a wreath.

Greig then placed the wreath at the foot of the memorial alongside other tributes which had been left by people.

The memorial itself has the names of each of those died as a result of the disaster etched on bricks.

Meanwhile, former Rangers star Kenny Miller has opened up on his falling-out with former manager Pedro Caixinha.

The Ibrox hero was dropped from the first team back in 2017 during the Portuguese’s tenure.

And looking back on it now, Miller admits he is still unsure of the exact reason behind the breakdown in their relationship.

Though he insists he also has some ideas about what caused it.

He said: “There was a breakdown. How and why, I honestly don’t know. Only he could tell you.

“Everything was fine, I got a new contract after the first season, but in the second year things took a turn.

“I have my ideas on why it happened, which is frustrating. I genuinely don’t think it was down to him, more certain people in his ear.

“These things happen but the only thing I know is I would never have treated someone the way I was treated.

“I would have been honest. I asked so many times what was going on and the answer was always, ‘No, nothing.’

“I was left out of the 18 when I was better than most, but never told why.  There was just no honesty about it.

“He could have been a man and been straight.”
