Rangers Football Club have announced a memorial service for club legend Walter Smith, who sadly passed away last week, aged 73.
Smith, who had an impressive managerial and player CV, became one of the most famous Scottish football figures throughout his time.
Winning 21 major honours with the current Scottish Champions, Smith’s passing followed with floods of tributes from those associated with the club, along with honouree mentions from clubs across the world.

Smith also had a spell in English football, managing Everton and featuring amongst Sir Alex Ferguson’s famous Manchester United coaching staff.
The memorial for Smith will be invite-only and will be held on Friday November 19. Rangers TV will also stream the event for free on Rangers TV, for those who would like to remember one of Scottish football’s all-time greats.
In a club statement, Rangers announced that the memorial will take place at Glasgow Cathedral, with a private, family funeral being held for Walter on Wednesday 3 November.

They said: “It is the intention for the cortege to pass Ibrox at 3:15pm, entering from Helen Street, driving in the direction of Paisley Road before re-joining the Motorway.
“The club would like to put on record its thanks to our supporters, supporters of other clubs and the wider community for their kind words and support at this difficult time.”
