Rangers and Celtic Premier Sports Cup games picked for TV as Ibrox side get Friday night slot

Rangers will play Dunfermline under the Ibrox lights after their League Cup clash was moved for TV.

Premier Sports have picked the games for the tournament – of which they are the title sponsor – and both Rangers and Celtic will be shown live over a weekend of action.

It’ll be Rangers who are up first as they take on Dunfermline with the game scheduled for Friday, August 13, with a 7.30pm kick-off.

Steven Gerrard’s men haven’t won this tournament since the 2010/11 season when they beat Celtic in the final and will hope to get off to a good start against a confident Pars side.

The two sides last met in the tournament in 2017 with Alfredo Morelos getting a double and James Tavernier also on the scoresheet.

Rangers scored four goals in the first 27 minutes to blow the Pars away with Kenny Miller, Bruno Alves and Daniel Candeias all scoring on the night.

There’s no games being shown live on the Saturday before Aberdeen’s trip to face Raith Rovers is on at noon on Sunday.

There’s then a third match being shown on TV with Celtic’s clash with Hearts shown live.

Ange Postecoglou’s men face Hearts in the league this weekend before taking them on again in two weeks time.

The draw for the quarter final will take place after that match.
