Arteta’s Gunners opened up the new campaign with a trip to newly-promoted Brentford on the Friday Night Football but turned in a woeful performance and were deservedly beaten.
Another 2-0 loss followed for the north Londoners against capital rivals Chelsea nine days later, which means they find themselves in the relegation-zone at this early stage of the season.
They did pick up a morale-boosting Carabao Cup victory over a youthful West Brom side in midweek, but a top-four place already looks beyond Arsenal, with the season just two weeks old.
Howey was asked for his reaction to their wretched opening two fixtures, and exclusively told Football FanCast:
“One of my friends is an Arsenal fan and obviously the Brentford game was an absolute disaster.
“Against Chelsea, in the end they were toying with Arsenal, but they didn’t collapse, although that is a team that seems to have players, especially Aubameyang and Lacazette, that don’t look happy.
“So, he’s got problems there and he has to turn it around very soon.”
