L’Équipe report this afternoon that young Paris Saint-Germain defender Timothée Pembéle is set to go out on loan to Bordeaux, in a deal which will include a permanent option.
The 18-year-old, who made six Ligue 1 appearances last season, notably appeared at the Olympic Games last month for the France side. Pembélé had been the subject of interest from the likes of Lens, Reims, Metz and Strasbourg as well.
In the end though, new Bordeaux manager Vladimir Petković had been impressed by his versatility and convinced the defender to join Les Girondins. Although the deal involves a permanent clause, it’s likely that PSG will be able to “counter” it in return for a compensation fee to Bordeaux – in the same vein as Kalimuendo’s move to Lens last year.
