Paris Saint-Germain are currently working on a deal which will see Lionel Messi move to the French capital after it was announced that he won’t continue at Barcelona next season.
Not many clubs in the world could put together a financial package which would be suitable to bring in the world’s best player, but the Qatari owned side won’t have many problems. They have previously signed both Neymar Jr and Kylian Mbappe in transfer worth 222 million euros and 180 million euros respectively, so the Messi deal shouldn’t be too much of a problem.
Many believe that Messi‘s arrival would prompt Mbappe to move to Real Madrid, but this isn’t necessarily true. Sources have told MARCA that the Parisian club are dead set on building one of the best sides of all time, and that would mean combining Messi, Neymar and Mbappe in a front three.
This attacking trident could be up there with the best we’ve ever seen. It could arguably be better than the Ronaldinho, Rivaldo and Ronaldo line-up Brazil fielded at the Korea and Japan World Cup, the Luis Suarez, Messi and Neymar trio and Barcelona or the Real Madrid front line of Gareth Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema.
PSG‘s owners dream of a side led by these three players, but also surrounded by other world class stars as well. Don’t forget that the French side have already brought in Gianluigi Donnarumma, Achraf Hakimi, Georginio Wijnaldum and Sergio Ramos this summer. Along with the other top names in this side, they could build one of, if not the best side on the continent.
Is it possible?
The club know that they should to sell players if they want to build such a team. These are extremely expensive signings and the most logical thing to do would be to sell Mbappe. This, however, is exactly what they don’t want despite knowing that the player doesn’t want to sign a new deal. The pressure of the French youngster will be immense from both the club and his teammates to sign a new deal.
It’s difficult to imagine a side who could accommodate three players on such high salaries, and someone will surely need to make way if Nasser Al-Khelaifi and his fellow directors are to see their dream front three become reality.
