Preview: Celtic vs Motherwell | FootballFanCast.com

Ange Postecoglou’s Celtic side face Motherwell in Sunday afternoon’s Premiership clash, with the 56-year-old undoubtedly hoping that his side can maintain their current 18-game unbeaten league run today at Fir Park.

However, with the Hoops coach recently confirming that he has no fresh injury concerns ahead of this afternoon’s fixture, as well as being able to call upon the likes of Tom Rogic and Daizen Maeda following their respective returns from international duty, Postecoglou could actually have something of a selection headache ahead of the trip to Lanarkshire.

Considering just how impressive the midweek result was, it would appear a harsh decision for Postecoglou to drop any of the players who started the victory over the Bhoys’ fiercest rivals.

However, with Rogic and Maeda once again set to be available from the off, as well as the rarely-seen Christopher Jullien looking to have finally recovered from his long-term knee injury, we predict that the 56-year-old will make three changes to the team which lined up at Parkhead on Wednesday.

The first of these comes in the heart of the Hoops’ backline, with 26-year-old Carl Starfelt – who was one of the few Celtic players to look slightly shaky on Wednesday, as well as being dubbed “very poor” by Michael Stewart for his performance in the League Cup final – making way for the much-anticipated return of the £20k-per-week Jullien, who last played for the Bhoys back in December 2020.

The second change comes in the middle of the park, with Matt O’Riley being unfortunate not to keep his place in the XI after yet another excellent performance in midweek, as Rogic makes an immediate return to the team in the 21-year-old’s place.

The third and final alteration comes in attack, with Maeda following the Australian midfielder back into the starting line-up, taking the place of Giorgos Giakoumakis in leading the line for the Bhoys, while Jota and Liel Abada retain their spots on the left and right flanks respectively.
