Pots 1 & 2 of the 2021/22 Champions League confirmed after Chelsea beat Man City

Chelsea see off Man City

Chelsea and Manchester City faced off in the 2020/21 Champions League final on Saturday evening.

Both sides no doubt headed into the tie brimming with confidence.

Man City have had a superb 2020/21 season which saw them reclaim their Premier League crown from Liverpool with relative ease.

Chelsea, meanwhile, had beaten Man City in the previous two meetings between the pair with Thomas Tuchel at the helm.

And, when all was said and done in Porto, Tuchel made it three wins in a row vs Pep Guardiola.

The game was decided inside 90 minutes when Kai Havertz would score the only goal of the clash after just before the break.

City, who opted for a somewhat odd midfield that did not include Rodri or Fernandinho, were unable to find a reply and their wait for Champions League glory goes on.

2021/22 Champions League pots 1 & 2 revealed following Chelsea vs Man City

Now, with the 2020/21 Champions League over, the first two pots for the forthcoming competition have been revealed.

As per RMC Sport as always, pot one will include the winners of the six biggest leagues, which means that Manchester City (Premier League), Atlético de Madrid (La Liga), Bayern Munich (Bundesliga), Inter Milan (Serie A), Lille (Ligue 1) and Sporting (Primeira Liga) will be in that group along with the winners of the CL and Europa League – Chelsea and Villareal.

Pot two is then determined by the UEFA points scored over the past five years. This pot includes PSG, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Sevilla, Manchester United, Liverpool, Juventus and Borussia Dortmund.
