Palmeiras moved higher up the log in the Brazilian Championship by defeating Juventude 3-0 at the Alfredo Jaconi stadium in Caxias do Sul on Wednesday. The gauchos are yet to win a game in the competition after four games.

After a deflected effort saw Palmeiras double their lead, Breno Lopes made it 3-0 and completed the scoring for the visitors, giving them a comfortable advantage.
The first half of the match at the Caxias do Sul was drab and devoid of originality as both teams struggled to get the ball forward into a good position to score goals.
Both Alyson and Luan were forced to leave the pitch before the half-hour mark due to injuries, forcing both teams to make early substitutions.
Following a fantastic through ball, Palmeiras had a chance to strike first through Deyverson, but Marcelo Carné was alert to make a save.
The Gauchos had the ball for the majority of the first half, but were unable to threaten Jailson’s goal.
Palmeiras got off to a strong start in the second half, and were fortunate to get the lead through the hosts’ misfortune.
Following a corner kick from the Sao Paulo team, William Matheus deflected a shot into his own goal in the 54th minute, giving the visitors the advantage.
Deyverson, who had played a key role throughout the game, then made it 2-0 by heading in a wonderful cross from Gustavo Scarpa.
Despite being down by two goals, Juventude went on the attack, had a goal disallowed, and also pushed Jailson to make numerous saves, all without scoring.
Breno Lopes scored three minutes before the final whistle on a Scarpa pass, bringing the game to a close.
Palmeiras return to action at Allianz Parque next Sunday, when they face América-MG. Juventude plays Sport in the Alfredo Jaconi stadium in Caxias do Sul on the same day.
