January 26, 2022 – National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) – OL Reign News Release
SEATTLE, WA – OL Reign has re-signed midfielder Rose Lavelle on a two-year deal that runs through the 2023 season, the club announced today. Per league and club policy, the financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“Rose is an individual with unlimited potential who has all the tools and talent to be one of the very best players on the planet,” said OL Reign CEO Bill Predmore. “We are excited to have her with the club for the next two seasons. Laura and the entire technical staff will be working to support Rose in any way she needs in an effort to help her accomplish her individual objectives and our collective goals.”
The club first acquired the rights to Lavelle in a trade with the Washington Spirit on August 16, 2020. She officially signed with the team on May 17, 2021. After arriving in Tacoma, Lavelle became a regular fixture in the midfield for OL Reign. The Cincinnati, Ohio native played in 12 matches, starting in each of those matches.
The dynamic midfielder played 1,026 minutes and connected 382 passes. She notched a goal and assist during the season and dished out 23 key passes. Her creativity and technical skill in the midfield consistently created offensive threats and goal scoring opportunities for the Reign throughout the season.
Lavelle was also a part of the U.S. Women’s National Team that earned the bronze medal at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo over the summer. In total, the midfielder has made 68 appearances for the United States, adding 18 goals and tallying 12 assists.
“I’m really excited for this season and for what’s to come with the Reign,” said Lavelle. “Playing at Lumen Field is a big step for the club and I know we all are ready to put on a good show for the Seattle fans who have been so supportive for so long. I have so much confidence in Laura and my teammates and I can’t wait to get started in 2022.”
