Mattia Caldara has left the Rossoneri and will try to get his career back on track.
When Milan signed Caldara from Juventus in exchange for Leonardo Bonucci, he was supposed to be the future leader of the defense of the Diavolo.
However, Mattia – due to injuries and confidence issues – never showed anything in the Red and Black shirt and was rarely ever used.
The player, who spent the last 18 months on loan at Atalanta, started pre-season with Stefano Pioli but did not show enough to be kept, and so both sides decided to part ways yet again.
Caldara had offers from several clubs, but chose to go to a newly-promoted side to play more.
“Milan announces that an agreement has been reached with Venezia FC for the temporary transfer of Mattia Caldara, with an option to make the deal permanent at the end of the season. The Club wishes Mattia all the best for the coming season,” a statement on Milan’s site reads.
Mattia, 27, will try to get back his old-self with Venezia, who finished 5th in Serie B last season and won promotion to Serie A through the play-offs. His contract with Milan expires in 2023.
