A major claim has been made on Newcastle United’s pursuit of midfielder Jesse Lingard…
What’s the talk?
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has claimed that the Magpies are set to make another move for the England international and remain in talks with Manchester United.
He Tweeted: “Newcastle will push again on Jesse Lingard deal in the next hours,” he began.
Should Newcastle sign Lingard?
Yes
No
“Magpies board working hard to sign Jesse at least until the end of the season, then he’ll become a free agent. #NUFC Negotiations ongoing with both Manchester United and Lingard representatives.”
Delight
Eddie Howe will surely be delighted by this news as it shows that the club are putting in the effort behind the scenes to get this deal over the line.
The Magpies are in a difficult position in the Premier League and are in dire need of reinforcements to bolster their squad. Despite the 1-0 win over Leeds at the weekend, they remain in the bottom three alongside Watford and Burnley as it was only their second victory of the campaign.
Howe’s side are one point off 17th, with a game in hand on Norwich, and adding further quality to the squad could ensure that they are able to get the job done.
They are evidently not a million miles from safety and that is why the head coach will be delighted with further additions to his starting XI as it could increase the quality he is able to call upon in matches, thus improving their chances of picking up points and moving out of the relegation zone.
Lingard could do exactly that as he has shown that he can score and create goals at this level. Last season, he produced nine goals and four assists on loan to West Ham in the Premier League, demonstrating that he has the ability to make a sizeable impact in the final third.
This suggests that he has the potential to arrive at St. James’ Park and become a match-winner for the Magpies, which is why Howe will be buzzing with the club’s efforts to sign him.
He could come in and score the goals to win crucial points for the team in their battle against the drop down to the Championship and it is now down to PIF to get this deal over the line.
AND in other news, Newcastle could get SJP rocking by signing “top class” £50m beast who has “everything”…
