Newcastle United need to improve in the second half of the season, and after a busy final few days of the January transfer window, they’ve got a great chance of building some momentum.
The Magpies’ first post-January Premier League clash comes against Everton, and this is bound to be an intriguing encounter.
The Toffees themselves are going through something of a period of transition. Frank Lampard has just arrived, while Donny Van de Beek and Dele Alli were signed on deadline day.
However, with Newcastle acquiring the likes of Matt Targett and Bruno Guimaraes towards the end of the transfer window, United should be able to compete with the Toffees.
With that in mind, we’ve had a go at predicting Newcastle’s starting Xi for this one.
We think that Newcastle will field what is arguably their strongest side for this match.
Dan Burn can’t start here as he’s suffering from a toe injury, but there is a new name in the backline as Matt Targett starts.
Bruno Guimaraes makes his Newcastle debut in the heart of midfield, while Jonjo Shelvey and Joelinton play alongside the new signing.
Ryan Fraser, Allan Saint-Maximin and Chris Wood start in the attack.
