New York City FC Forward Ismael Tajouri-Shradi Selected in 2021 Expansion Draft by Charlotte FC

December 14, 2021 – Major League Soccer (MLS) – New York City FC News Release

The Club can today confirm that New York City FC forward Ismael Tajouri-Shradi has been selected by Charlotte FC as part of the 2021 Expansion Draft.

The Libyan international joined NYCFC in 2018 from Austria Wien and enjoyed a stellar first season in MLS – recording 11 goals and 3 assists in 27 regular season appearances.

In Isi’s final, Championship-winning season with the Boys in Blue, he contributed seven goals, including a crucial strike vs. his future club, LAFC at the Banc of California Stadium in May.

In total he played 92 times for the Club in MLS, registering 28 goals and 10 assists in that time.

The forward was selected as part of Charlotte’s five Expansion Draft picks ahead of their entry into the league in 2022.

Tajouri-Shradi was subsequently traded to LAFC as part of a deal between Charlotte and the Black and Gold that saw the league’s expansion side receive General Allocation Money.

The Club would like to show its appreciation for Tajouri-Shradi’s efforts and wish him well on his future endeavors.
